Program Support Officer – OPEN Program for Pakistan

PROGRAM BACKGROUND
The OPEN Program offers professional development opportunities to English language educators worldwide through high-quality online courses and webinars designed by U.S. universities and English language professionals.
The program is fully sponsored by the Regional English Language Office (RELO) at the U.S. Embassy Islamabad.
Location: In-person – Based in Karachi
Position Type: Full-time contractual

Salary: PKR 105,000 per month
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide academic and logistical support to the implementation of the OPEN Program in Pakistan.
Serve as a point of contact for program participants, ensuring effective communication and addressing their queries in a timely manner.
Assist in coordinating virtual and in-person activities, including orientations, webinars, and alumni events.
Track participant progress and maintain accurate program records using appropriate tools.
Contribute to the promotion of the OPEN Program by developing content.
Prepare and submit regular reports to the Program Officer on program activities.
Support alumni engagement initiatives to foster a vibrant community of English language professionals in Pakistan.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Project Management, or a related field.
Prior experience of a minimum of two years in program coordination, support, or administration (preferably in educational programs).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, LMS, online courses and virtual communication tools.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
Strong report writing skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports on program activities and outcomes.

Accountant – OPEN Program for Pakistan

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
Assist Finance officer in preparing accurate financial statements, reports, and records for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns.
Maintain and improve accounting systems and processes to enhance efficiency.
Assist in audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or financial management.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Ledgermax) and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
Strong attention to detail.

Program Background
The Online Professional English Network (OPEN) offers online graduate level classes to English teaching professionals through top U.S. universities. Courses include Integrating Critical Thinking, Teaching Grammar Communicatively, Using Educational Technology in the Classroom, Teaching English to Young Learners, Professional Development for Teacher Trainers, Content-based Instruction, TESOL Methodology, and Assessment of English Language Learners. Additional courses tailored to Pakistan’s specific needs are also offered.

Job Specification
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Education, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in program coordination, project management, or a related role, preferably in the education, nonprofit, or social impact sector.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently to meet deadlines and deliverables.
- Knowledge of educational initiatives, online learning platforms, and community engagement practices is desirable.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data management, reporting, and documentation.
Job Description
As the Program Officer, you will be responsible for accomplishing strategic objectives by overseeing multiple project activities, including but not limited to:
- Program Planning: Develop program strategies, including goals, objectives, and activities, in alignment with the OPEN program's mission and vision.
- Recruitment and Selection: Lead the recruitment and selection process for participants interested in online courses, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and webinars offered as part of the program.
- Participants’ Communication: Provide clear and timely communication to selected participants regarding their enrollment in online courses, MOOCs, and webinars. Facilitate orientation sessions to guide participants through the enrollment process, including necessary procedures and deadlines. Maintain regular communication channels to address participant inquiries and concerns.
- Participant Support: Offer continuous and responsive support to participants throughout their engagement with online courses, MOOCs, and webinars. Collaborate with instructors, trainers, and facilitators to ensure a positive learning experience for participants. Identify and address participant challenges, providing assistance and resources as needed to enhance their success.
- Project Implementation: Oversee the day-to-day implementation of programs, including coordinating activities and ensuring compliance with project timelines and deliverables.
- Advocacy and Outreach: Engage in advocacy efforts related to the OPEN Program's mission and activities.
- Alumni Empowerment: Design, conceptualize, plan and implement alumni engagement activities across the country.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports and updates for donors, board members, and other stakeholders. Ensure accurate and timely submission of project reports.
- Ad-Hoc Responsibilities: Perform other activities or tasks related to the OPEN program as communicated by Program Management.
