E-Teacher Global Online Courses (GOCs)

The American English E-Teacher program offers are 8-week online university-level Global Online Courses in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) developed by U.S. educational institutions. These fully funded courses are offered every term to ELTs in Pakistan.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)

The American English E-Teacher program offers free Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in addition to its Global Online Courses (GOCs). MOOCs are open to an unlimited number of participants. MOOCs are designed for any non-native English speaker looking to improve his or her English language skills, and they focus on specific topics.

The Teaching Grammar Communicatively MOOC is provided by World Learning. In this practice-oriented course, participants will explore how to adapt grammar instruction to meet their students’ needs. They will also focus on integrating grammar instruction with teaching language skills, learn about task-based grammar learning and evaluate different error correction strategies. Participants will discuss different challenges their learners may have with learning grammar, and discover how they can adapt grammar instruction to improve students’ fluency and accuracy.

American English Webinar Series

American English Webinars are online teacher training seminars for professional development. The American English Webinar and Facebook Live sessions are hosted by the U.S. Department of State’s Office of English Language Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. These professional development sessions for English teachers around the globe address methodological topics that foster interactive, student-centered language instruction. Here you will find recordings from previous events that are 60-90 minutes long and include corresponding downloadable presentations and additional resources.

American English Live Series 8:
The series will take place from May 06–July 15, 2020. We’ll cover topics like teaching reading in the EFL classroom, communicative grammar teaching, and pair work and group work strategies!

These 60-minute sessions will be held every other Wednesday at 5:00 pm or 10:00 p.m. Pakistan time from Washington, D.C.

Alumni Engagement Programs

English Language Teachers, after completing the American English Global Online Courses, become part of the E-Teacher Alumni network. Every year the alumni participate in various national and international professional development and networking events. Most of them not only attend these events but are now acting as professional trainers and ELT leaders in their communities.
