Introduction

Assessment is one of the most important but misunderstood components of education. In schools, we overemphasize assessment results and undermine students’ learning and growth. Also, there is a great reliance on formal and summative modes of assessment resulting in stressful conditions for students, teachers, and parents. In contrast, the use of formative assessment is either negligible or completely absent.

Workshop Plan

  • This workshop will discuss the interrelationship of assessment with learning in a way that the participants will clearly see the value of moving towards “Assessment for Learning,” and away from the traditional concept of “Assessment of Learning.”

    The conceptual framework involving key terms of evaluation, assessment and testing will also be explained to the participants. Some important tools for carrying out Formative Assessment will be shared with the participants.
